Your Task

Students with Asperger's Syndrome (AS) look just like their fellow students, but they can act very differently. On the surface, AS behavior can make a student appear selfish or bratty. It is helpful for neurotypical (NT) students to learn how students with AS view the world and the people around them to understand that the behavior is not intentionally harmful. Students with AS have trouble predicting what others are thinking and understanding when they may be offending someone.

In this task, you will learn about Asperger's through articles and videos and then describe what it might be like to live with Asperger's by writing diary entries or creating animations that depict typical AS interactions.

There are 6 parts to this task:

  1. Take a brief video quiz
  2. Research Asperger's using web pages and videos
  3. Participate in an online discussion
  4. Write diary entries OR Create simple animations
  5. Self evaluate your diary or animation
  6. Share your diary or animation with your classmates
