The Process
There are 6 parts to this task: 1)Take a brief video quiz 2)Research Asperger's using web pages and videos 3)Participate in an online discussion 4)Write diary entries OR Create simple animations 5)Evaluate your diary or animation using the scoring Rubric 6)Submit a link to your diary or animation to the class website to share it with your classmates.
1) Take a brief quiz
Test what you know about Asperger's Disorder by watching a video and taking a brief quiz.

3) Participate in online discussion
We will spend the next two weeks discussing what we'll learn about living with Asperger's and how it can make people view the world differently and act in unpredictable ways. The discussion will take place on the class Moodle site where a special forum has been created for this topic. Over the course of the discussion you will contribute at least 3 posts of 50-150 words per week.
4) Write diary entries OR Create simple animation
At the end of the two week discussion you will have one week to create a diary or animate a scene depicting a typical interaction between a student with AS and a neurotypical (NT) peer from the perspective of the student with AS. You will use one of the two sites listed here to create your project. If you choose to write a diary, you will create 3 entries, each depicting a different interaction. Include the AS student's thoughts on why the situation was confusing and their unique view of it. If you choose to create an animation, create the scenes in your movie, each depicting a different interaction. As with the diary, include the AS student's thoughts on why the situation was confusing and their unique view of it.
You can use one of the following tools:
- Penzu, the free online diary and personal journal - Make sure to share your journal with the class, by default journals are private
- Dvolver - Create your own movie with MovieMaker. Please share it with the class when you are finished
5) Self-Evaluation
The grading rubric will help you evaluate if you've included all the necessary elements in your project.
6) Share what you've learned
Upload a link to your project, either the diary or the animation you created, to the Moodle forum created for this purpose. Include a brief reflection on what made the biggest impression on you while learning about this topic.
